Chandler-Gilbert Community College Dance offers a comprehensive educational program with activities and performance opportunities for a diverse community of students providing quality life-long learning opportunities in a learner-centered environment.

All dance students have an opportunity to audition, choreograph, and perform in four main stage dance productions each year.  The program supports additional performance opportunities such as informal campus events, off campus dance festivals, MCCCD's Artist of Promise, and the American College Dance Association Conference.  Faculty, students, and guest artists create dance with in our recently renovated 39,000 square foot state of the art, dance and music rehearsal facility.  All main stage performances are held in the Arnette Scott Ward Performing Arts Center on campus.

Micaela Church, MFA, is currently the resident dance faculty for Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She received her MFA from Arizona State University, where she also taught as faculty associate. She has earned both her BA in dance and a BM in viola performance from Alma College. Her commissioned works have most recently been performed at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA and Alma College, in Alma, MI. While in Arizona she has choreographed and produced several works shown at ASU, CGCC, MCC and PVCC. She is the co-founder and artistic director of MAC & Company, a 501c3 non-profit Phoenix based modern dance company. Her choreography for MAC & Company has been chosen for performance at dance festivals in Arizona, California and Nevada. She has produced all of MAC & Company’s full length performances and has toured the company throughout the Southwest. She has danced for several companies in addition to MAC & Company, including H.Lab Performance, Michigan Dance Collective, Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre, and the Blue Lake International Ballet. She has danced throughout the country and internationally in China and Europe. She presented her research in 2010 on the integration of music and dance at the National Dance Education Organization’s conference.

Rayn Hookala holds an MFA in dance from Arizona State University where she received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Rayn was named an Arizona State University Top Alumni in 2005. Rayn also earned a BFA Magna Cum Laude in Dance from ASU where she was the recipient of the Outstanding Dance Major Scholarship, the Regents Dance Scholarship and the Regents Academic Scholarship. After her spell as a student, Rayn founded Rayn Dance Theatre (RDT) and Rayn Dance Center for the Arts. RDT performed their diverse repertory throughout Arizona and the Southwest. Rayn Dance Center for the Arts, located in Tempe, Arizona, was a versatile studio and performance space that offered a variety of classes and showcased the work of emerging Arizona choreographers. Rayn has had the honor to perform for such artists as Mary Fitzgerald, Matthew Reynolds/F3 Dance Company, Leanne Schmidt and Company, Karen Schupp, Cheri McDowell, Vicki Shick, Dulce Dance Company and many others. As a dance educator, Rayn has relished the opportunity to teach talented students at Arizona State University, Scottsdale Community College and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She currently teaches Modern Theory and Technique, Dance Humanities, and Dance Seminar Dancers at CGCC. Rayn recently co-founded CGCC’s newest resident company, AZprojectDANCE. Additionally, Rayn is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and loves her work as a personal trainer, boot camp coach and group fitness instructor. During her free time, Rayn enjoys relaxing with her husband, Stuart, and their two daughters, Kaia and Sheridan.

Janelle Fehser Paris began her dance career in a very unconventional way. In her freshman year of college at Cal State Long Beach as a piano performance major, Janelle got a job as an accompanist for the ballet technique classes. Despite having played piano her whole life, she became instantly fascinated with the beauty and expression of the dance arts. She dropped out of school and began learning dance anywhere and everywhere she could. Two years later, she began performing in musicals and dancing across the country as well as on a cruise ship. After relocating to AZ, Janelle continued her education, this time as a dance and choreography major at ASU where she received her BFA in Dance. Her choreography is well sought after for a variety of projects including musicals, high school dance companies, college residencies, and numerous valley showcases. She currently teaches dance at several local studios as well as at CGCC where she is co-founder and co-director of CGCC TranscenDANCE Company. In addition, she started her own dance Company, Conjure Contemporary Dance, which is in it's first season. In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her dogs, playing the piano and cooking.

Krista Pearson currently teaches modern jazz, and tap at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.  Krista has been dancing and performing well over 20 years and has a wide range of professional experience in both dance and education.  She received her BIS in Dance and Education from Arizona State University and her Master's in Education focusing on curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University.

Tricia Rodgers originally hales from Dallas Fort Worth Texas area where she started her dance training at the young age of five.  As Tricia continued to grow so did her passion for the art of dance.  She attended and graduated from Brigham Young University where she received her Bachelor's in Dance Performance.  During her time at BYU she participated in the China Dance study abroad program; as well as performed and choreographed with dancEnsemble and Contemporary Dance Theratre.  During her undergraduate studies she also competed professionally in Salsa on 2 and won Utah State Salsa Champion.  After received her Bachelors, Tricia continued her dance education at Arizona State University where she received a Masters of Fine Arts.  She has additionally studied with many dance artists including Bebe Miller, Comfort Fedoke, Tom Clower and Robin Konie.  Her work has been shown at various Dance Festivals including ConderDance's Breaking Ground and Denton City Contemporary Ballet's College.  She is excited to be a part of Chandler Gilbert's faculty and encourages everyone to take time to shake it!

Vanessa Lopez Delgado began dancing in her teens with a Hip Hop group from The Boys and Girls Club and later developed her appreciation for other styles while performing with her high school dance company. In college, Vanessa continued to grow under the direction of Sally Jesse at CGCC (modern, jazz, and performance), Cheri Burns McDowell at MCC (modern and performance), Brenda Smith at ASU (Latin Ballroom) and Leslie Scott with the ASU Hip Coalition. While dancing with the ASU Hip Hop Coalition, Vanessa became dance assistant and featured choreographer. In turn, her creative movement was sought out from various dance studios and school districts, earning top choreography awards at state and national competitions, and Arizona State AIA Championships. Vanessa later made her mark teaching for Movement Source Dance Company and Maricopa Community Colleges, where she instructed Latin Ballroom, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Performance for MCC, CGCC, GCC, PVCC and PC. Vanessa is most proud of her time coaching the Phoenix College Hip Hop Squad, where her team earned notoriety and was invited to present pieces at credible venues amongst professional artists, musicians and performers. Vanessa’s performance experience includes HBO special Hyde Park, KISS FM, Nasty Boy Klick/ NB Ridaz, Miss Gay America Pageants (State, Regional, & National competitions- backup dancer for Angela Dodd), City of Phoenix “Martin Luther King” Festivities, and Helena Saraydarian’s “Celebration of Dance.” Vanessa is currently a Zumba Fitness instructor and believes that exposure to ALL movement forms make well-rounded dancers.

Angelo "Vo Vera" Sapienza began his movement career as a B-boy in the streets of rural Arizona & Germany. Over the last 15+ years he has grown a heart for versatility, having received formal dance training from Arizona State University, MCC and SCC, 2 B.A.’s from ASU, and a RYT-200 Yoga Certificate. Instructor, choreographer, competitor and performance artist, he has performed solo and with professional dance organizations and circuses including The Be Kind People Project, EPIK Dance Company and The Sacred G’s. Highlights include dancing for RedBull, Microsoft, PayPal, Budlight, Yahoo!, Seacret, JanSport and the NBA half-time show. He has performed live with music acts including Diplo, Steve Aoki, Purity Ring (DJ Set), and Com Truise. Since 2015 he has been teaching accredited dance and yoga courses on the university level. As a Bboy and movement artist his influences come from Popping, Tutting, the Asana of Yoga, Hand Balancing and various movement concepts. His passions kneaded into a diverse kind of practice, which led him to cross-pollinate all he had accumulated. The outcome: A fresh and unique presentation of creative, dynamic, intentional movement.

Stacy Wisniewski holds a BFA in Choreography and Performance from Arizona State University and is currently an MFA Candidate in Dance, with Teaching Artist Praxis Certification in the Herberger Institute School of Film, Dance and Theater. Her awards include the departmental Graduate College Fellowship, and the Katherine K. Herberger Scholarship. Stacy has been instructor of record for ballet classes and teaching assistant for Creative Approaches to Teaching Dance 1 and 2 for at ASU. Her She has also taught for 20 years at pre-professional ballet studios, including 8 at Ballet Etudes in Gilbert, AZ and 12 years at Eastside Ballet in Mesa, AZ. In addition to academic and teaching experience, Stacy has developed and implemented community dance programs in Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. Her research has been presented at the National Dance Educators Organization Convention addressing student-centered pedagogical practices and creating learning environments for diverse populations. Her creative interests includes ballet influenced choreography, dancer generated themes and works that invite audience participation.
