CGCC Academic Advisement

Academic Advisement is available on a walk-in basis at the Pecos and Williams Campuses--see Locations and Hours for more details.

Academic Advisors are available to meet with CGCC students who have completed CGCC’s Enrollment Steps.

If you are a new student, please complete the steps outlined below before meeting with an advisor.

New-to-College Students

  1. Apply for Admission to Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
    • Provide proof of identity and verify residency information with CGCC's Admissions and Records Department (this will be used for tuition calculations).
    • Submit prior educucation documents.  Send official transcripts directly to CGCC’s Admissions and Records Department. Sealed, hand-carried transcripts are considered unofficial.
        • Ex. High school transcripts, GED, AP exam scores, Non-MCCCD dual enrollment credit  
    • Complete FAFSA & scholarship applications (optional)                                                                  
  2. Placement CGCC uses multiple options to determine college course placement for students. 
         Placement options include:       
    • High school GPA, OR
    • GED scores, OR
    • ACT scores, OR
    • Placement Test (Accuplacer/Writeplacer) 
         Submit unofficial high school transcripts here.                    
         OR prepare for placement testing here.

     3. Initial Advisement/New Student Orientation Sign up and attend Coyote Kickoff (New Student Orientation).

     4. Pay tuition and fees.  Make payment arrangements the day you register!  Payment options include:
    • Payment in full
    • Start a payment plan
    • Financial aid & scholarships

Students transferring to CGCC from another college

  1. Apply for Admission to Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
    • Provide proof of identity and verify residency information with CGCC's Admissions and Records Department (this will be used for tuition calculations).
    • Send prior education documents. Send official transcripts directly to CGCC’s Admissions and Records department. Sealed, hand-carried transcripts are considered unofficial.
    • Complete FAFSA & scholarship applications (optional)                                                                 
     2. Meet with an Academic Advisor For proper academic planning, please bring unofficial transcripts from any prior colleges/universities. 
    • If your unofficial transcripts do not show successful completion of a college-level English, Reading, or Mathematics course, course placement will be determined by the following:
      • High school GPA, OR
      • GED scores, OR
      • Placement Test (Accuplacer/Writeplacer)

Coyote Kickoff

Chandler-Gilbert Community College
New Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration
2 and a 1/2 hour session.
Coyote Kickoff is only available at the Pecos Campus.
Coyote Kickoff

Coyote Kickoff is mandatory for all students who are new to college and seeking a degree (Not Mandatory for Occupational Programs). All recent high school graduates must attend Kickoff, even if you took college classes through ACE, Dual Enrollment or Hoop of Learning while in high school.

What to Expect

At Kickoff you will meet other new students, speak with and ask questions of current students and staff, take a tour of campus, create a first-semester academic plan, and register for your classes.

In order to attend Coyote Kickoff students must first:

  1. Create a student account online 
    • Apply for Admissions to Chandler-Gilbert Community College
    • Submit proof of identity online or in-person with CGC's Admissions and Records Department
    • Update residency information with CGCC's Admissions and Records Department (this will be used for tuition calculations) 
  2. Take Placement Tests (Writing, Reading, Math).  Students can prepare for placement tests and review sample questions here
  3. Sign up for your Coyote Kickoff session

What to Bring:  

  • Student ID #
  • MEID and Password - to participate in Coyote Kickoff you must be able to login to your Student Center - if you need to reset password go to Forgot Password, or visit they Coyote Center for assistance at least 24 hours prior)   
  • Photo ID (Driver's license, State ID, Passport)
  • Unofficial high school transcripts

Advisement E-Forms

Advisement E-Forms are available for CGCC students who are unable to meet with an academic advisor during established hours of operation.
Who Can Use Advisement E-Forms?
·         Current CGCC students who have completed CGCC’s Enrollment Steps
Currently, Advisement E-Forms are not available for:
·         Students on Financial Aid appeal (SAP or MTF)
·         Students on Academic Probation
·         Underage students (under 18)
·         Students on visas
·         Students who are undecided about their academic program

An MEID and Password are required.
Have you met the prerequisites for a class but are unable to self-enroll?
Fill out this form to specify your class selections and upload prerequisite documentation (i.e. unofficial transcripts, AP, CLEP, or ACCUPLACER test scores).  For CGCC classes only.
Need help selecting which classes to take next semester?
Fill out this form to have an advisor review your progress and suggest classes for next semester.  For any prior credit that has not yet officially transferred to CGCC, upload documentation for an unofficial prior credit evaluation (i.e. unofficial transcripts, AP, or CLEP test scores).  For CGCC programs only.
Requests take 2-3 business days.
