The Long and the Short of It
They told me I was born
With one leg longer than the other.
And how my body would be burdened.
But my mind is not.
My short leg is sturdy- strong.
Able to bear my weight and
The weight of others that would
Only see it for what it is not.
But, I see two legs and am thankful-
First for the short, stable one
And for the one whom I see as
Merely being an overachiever.
It has the courage to
Stretch beyond me-
To reach its fullest potential
And make me do the same.
