In fall 2014, Chandler-Gilbert English faculty Miguel Fernandez completed a sabbatical on best practices for faculty in teaching and engaging with student veterans. Created with input from the Arizona Coalition for Military Families, the resulting Toolkit for Training Faculty to Best Serve Student Veterans is an easy to read, easy to use chapter by chapter guide to helping this important population to reach academic goals while becoming valuable classroom assets.
Below are links to each of the chapters, as well as the syllabus section dealing with student veterans that Fernandez encourages all instructors to include in their syllabi. Doing so can prevent most common issues from occurring or escalating.
