Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honors Society for two-year colleges.

Purpose: "The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence."


Mission Statement: The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

Becoming A Member

Eligibility and Invitation

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society is by invitation only. Membership invitations are extended to currently enrolled students who have satisfied the following criteria:
  • 12 credit hours of 100 or above level classes
  • A grade point average of 3.5 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College
Membership and Fee
  • Accept the membership invitation (sent to eligible students Maricopa Student Email during the second week of the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters)
  • Required - Membership Fee: $80 (one-time membership fee)

Maintaining Membership Prior to Graduation or Transfer
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25

Events & Inductions

Member meetings are held weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Induction Information:
Our annual Induction ceremony will be held every November. New Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Sigma Nu members are officially recognized at a formal induction ceremony.

Additional Information will be provided in the weeks leading up to induction.
