The CGCC Campus and Computer Lab are currently closed. We are offering an online virtual help desk for students, staff, and faculty through Google Meet and Discord.

Our Computer Lab team are highly qualified staff and are available to assist you with your homework and technology questions, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Canvas, SimNet, MyITLab, and more.

The CGCC Campus and Computer Lab are currently closed and offering an online virtual help desk for students, staff, and faculty Monday - Thursday 8 AM - 6 PM and Friday 8 AM - 5 PM through Google Meet and Discord.

The Expert is an applications assistance program that provides face-to-face instructional support to students. Students can sign up for a 30-minute block of time with the expert (subject to availability). The expert is there to help you with your application needs.


To provide assistance to students with campus-supported* and course specific** computer applications.

Does your class require you to

  • Write papers?
  • Give presentations?
  • Create graphs?
  • Use online applications?
  • Use the Internet or a computer to complete assignments?

 Then The Expert can help you with

  • Word processing, formatting your papers.
  • Browsing and searching, finding resources.
  • PowerPoint and presentation software.
  • Excel, using formulas and creating graphs.
  • Using Canvas, MyITlab, and other online applications.
  • Access to the Internet and Computers with up-to-date software.

Call 480-732-7221 or stop in the lab to schedule an appointment.

*Software currently licensed for college-wide use in conjunction with a CGC course. Examples: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Canvas, etc.

**Software currently licensed for a particular course. Examples: MyITlab, Quickbooks, Weebly, etc.

District and College Rules for Usage

Lab staff and faculty have the right to question any individual in the lab. The following are common reasons for staff intervention:

  • Beepers and cellphones should be in vibration mode only.  Please do not answer or make calls from the lab.  If you must take a call, step outside of the lab.
  • No eating or drinking in the computer lab.
  • Non-registered students such as, but not limited to, minor children or dependent adults are not allowed in the lab.
  • Pets are not allowed in any buildings including the computer lab.
  • Print only once.  If copies are needed, use a copy machine.
  • Users are not to disconnect any equipment or peripherals.
  • Lab software that is copyrighted may not be copied.  Students may not install any software program or utility on any lab computer, nor may students tamper with, alter, or delete any software program or utility from any lab computer. This includes disconnecting cables, or attempting to connect private hardware to school resources.
  • Answer keys are for users use in the lab; they cannot be taken out of the lab.
  • Machines left for more than 15 minutes may be assigned to another user.
  • Respect your peers.  Please do not play music, shout, or engage in loud conversation.  (Faculty and staff are required to speak with and assist students with homework.)
  • Limit your time on a computer to 2 hours unless there are not users waiting.
  • All students must abide by the Internet Acceptable Use policy mandated by District.  The primary use of these resources is for work related to academics.
  • After hours access is not permitted in the lab.
  • Violation or abuse of any policy, equipment, or lab staff member will be reported to Public Safety and the Dean of Student Services and may result in suspension or revocation of lab privileges.

Sonya   Brieske
Instructional Services Manager
Instructional Computing

Sonya Brieske is the Instructional Services Manager of Instructional Computing. She manages both computer labs at the Pecos and Williams locations. She brings over 13 years experience in education, including over eight years in higher education. She was previously an Office Manager/Fiscal Coordinator at a K-8 school for five years helping with the budget, purchasing, hiring, training, etc. She has a bachelor's degree in Communication with a minor in Business. She is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Educational Leadership - Community College/Higher Education.

Michael   Shine
Laboratory Technician
Instructional Computing

Michael Shine is a Laboratory Technician at the Williams Campus computer lab. Michael has an Associates Degree in Business from Chandler-Gilbert, and he is currently pursuing studies at ASU.

Stephanie   Goff
Laboratory Technician
Instructional Computing

Stephanie holds Associate degrees in Information Technology, Microsoft Network Technology, and Network Technology: Cisco. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies: Public Management from Northern Arizona University.

Rachael   Lawless
Learning Technician Senior
Instructional Computing

Rachael is a Chandler-Gilbert alum, and one of our part-time Learning Technician Seniors, at the Pecos campus Computer Lab. Rachael holds an Associates in the Art from CGCC, and a Bachelor of the Arts in English Literature with a minor in Film Studies from ASU.

Joshua   Smith
