Placement Testing

Once you have completed the admissions steps, placement testing is next in your CGCC journey. Placement testing will determine your skill level in English, Reading, and Math, and your results will allow you and your academic advisor to determine which courses are best for you as you begin your education at CGCC.

Please follow these three steps to complete your placement testing:

Before your placement testing, please review the placement options.

Note: There is no cost for the test if you intend to enroll at CGCC or one of the other Maricopa Community Colleges.

Pecos Campus

Testing at the Pecos Campus is done on a walk-in basis during our hours of operation; no appointment is required.

Williams Campus

Testing at the Williams Campus is done by appointment.

Maricopa Community Colleges Retest Policy

You are allowed to take one retest in English, Reading, or Math after waiting at least 24 hours. You can take an additional retest at least three months from the oldest valid score date. Course placement scores, with the exception of the Reading Exemption scores, will be valid for two years from the date of the original assessment or the retest. Reading Exemption scores do not expire.

Request for Official Test Scores

To request that official test scores be sent to an educational institution, please complete the Request for Official Test Score Form.

Note: If you’re taking a test for a non-Maricopa institution, you’ll be charged a $25 proctoring fee on your test day. You must pay the proctoring fee before requesting the official scores be sent to an institution outside of the Maricopa system.
