Honors Program Scholarships

Figuring out how to pay for college can be difficult. At CGCC, we want to help make it easier. In addition to all of the financial aid that’s available, there are a number of scholarships just for CGCC students.

Presidents’ Honors Scholarship (Recent High School Graduates)

High-achieving, recent high school students have the opportunity for a deeply enriching college experience in the CGCC Honors Program. Plus, if you’re graduating high school with an unweighted GPA of at least 3.25, you can take advantage of the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship. The scholarship pays for full-time tuition for up to 15 credit hours (plus the $15 registration fee) per semester for up to four consecutive semesters.

To continue to receive the scholarship each semester, you’ll need to be enrolled for at least 12 graded credit hours, maintain a 3.25 GPA, and complete certain activities required of Honors Program students.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship, you must:

  • Graduate from a high school in Maricopa County
  • Have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Start at CGCC within one year of high school graduation without attending another college in between (not including concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and summer session)
  • Reside in Maricopa County while on scholarship

Honors Achievement Scholarship (continuing students)

Get more out of your CGCC experience — and get a break on tuition at the same time! CGCC Honors Program members are academically motivated students seeking to enrich their college experience through specialized coursework and various activities.

The Honors Achievement Scholarship awards a partial tuition waiver of up to $500 each semester to Honors students. (The amount of the award varies depending on the number of credit hours you’re enrolled in.)

If you have 12 or more 100-level (or higher) MCCCD credits and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25, you are invited to apply. Your scholarship will be awarded at the end of the semester, once all requirements — including coursework, an Honors class, and an Honors Program event and reflection — are completed.

The Clarion Award is open to current Maricopa Community College students who have an interest in taking Honors courses and being a part of the Honors Program but are unable to be funded (DACA, Hoop of Learning, ACE, etc.). While the Clarion Award does not provide any financial aid, it allows interested students to enroll in the Honors classes and graduate from the Honors Program.

Eligibility requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a MCCCD college
  • Passed a minimum of 12 MCCCD credits of graded courses 100-level or higher (exception: pass/fail classes that are required for the student's degree program)
