Phi Theta Kappa

Scholarship. Leadership. Fellowship. Service.

Phi Theta Kappa is the official international honor society for two-year colleges. For more than a century, it has helped millions of high-achieving college students around the world reach their full potential, providing opportunities for leadership, training, and personal growth. Find out how you can join this prestigious community of scholars by becoming a member of CGCC’s chapter, Alpha Sigma Nu.

Mission:

The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize the academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

How you can become a member of Phi Theta Kappa

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society is by invitation only. You don't have to apply. Membership invitations are automatically emailed in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. They go out to currently enrolled students who meet the following criteria:

  • At least 12 credit hours of 100-level classes or above
  • A grade point average of at least 3.5 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College

Watch for the email from help@ptk.org. All you need to do is accept the membership invitation—you might say it’s a no-brainer. There is a one-time membership fee of $80.

Induction

Our annual induction ceremony is held every November, where new members are officially recognized and welcomed into the club. If you are a new member, you’ll receive information about the ceremony in the weeks leading up to induction.

A member in good standing

To maintain your membership before you graduate or transfer, you’ll need to keep at least a 3.25 GPA.

Scholarships

Scholarships are the top reason students join Phi Theta Kappa. The organization offers two types of scholarships to help complete an associate degree and prepare to transfer to a four-year college. And as a PTK member at CGCC, you have access to even more scholarship opportunities:
