The College Police Department supports the educational mission of the Maricopa County Community Colleges by providing professional, community-oriented services that ensure a safe and secure campus for our students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Our motto is “Make a Difference,” and we strive to do that every day through a variety of services:
- Patrolling the campus by police vehicle, bicycle, golf cart and on foot
- Conducting criminal and other incident investigations
- Rendering emergency first aid, as necessary
- Arranging safety escorts, upon request
- Offering general information and assistance
College Police Officers
The Department is vested with the authority and responsibility to enforce all applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as MCCCD policies. That means CGCC Police Officers are duly sworn peace officers under state law (A.R.S Title 13-3871), are certified by the Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board (AZPOST), and have full police officer authority anywhere within the State of Arizona. They are authorized to carry firearms, conduct criminal investigations, and arrest violators. The Department of College Police has primary jurisdiction on all MCCCD-owned properties.
