By enrolling in the program, you will engage with a community of supportive writers through classes, workshops, and contests that will help you market your work. Program instructors will teach you how to analyze and evaluate aesthetic values, literary styles, and technical elements and theories across multiple genres and you will explore the dynamic relationships among people, cultures, and the physical world. You'll receive guidance from established authors during the creative writing process through problem-solving, experimentation, and inspiration to produce original fiction and non-fiction work across multiple genres. Upon completing the program, you will have a portfolio worthy of publication.

CGCC Creative Writing
The Creative Writing Program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College offers you both an A.A. degree with an emphasis in English (Creative Writing) and an Academic Certificate in Creative Writing. The program provides you with a unique opportunity to study many different forms of creative writing with accomplished, award-winning faculty members who consistently publish in their fields of expertise.
The Creative Writing Program offers courses in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, writing for the screen, and novel writing in a supportive community of writers. You also have the opportunity to attend readings and workshops with prominent visiting writers.
Creative Writing students at Chandler-Gilbert have been recognized with awards at both the local and national levels, have published books, and have gone on to study at prominent graduate Master of Fine Arts programs in Creative Writing.
The only experience necessary to enroll is a curiosity and desire to explore the world of writing.

Academic Certificate in Creative Writing
The Academic Certificate (AC) in Creative Writing program is designed to provide students and professional writers with access to a community of writers and creative writing activities, instruction and guidance from established authors, and ongoing support in improving their writing skills and marketing their work. As you take courses in the program, you will build a portfolio of original work that may be submitted for publication. The program offers classes, workshops, and other activities such as readings and contests, which are accessible to writers of all levels regardless of academic or professional standing. The program aims to serve a diverse community who may be underrepresented in traditional creative writing programs. Completion of the certificate does not lead to a particular degree program, but may aid you in your pursuit of a career in the writing professions and in your continued enjoyment of writing for personal growth.
