Joni Brummer Memorial Scholarship

Joni joined the Chandler-Gilbert Community College family in 2014 after she worked at Glendale Community College and quickly became part of the backbone of the institution. She was the Director of the Computer Labs and Instructional Services. She served on the Higher Learning Commission Team in 2015-16 and participated on multiple college committees; co-led the United Way campaign for three years (that alone is an amazing feat of fundraising) and pioneered the online auction and the decorated chair challenge called the "Chair"ity. She championed the development of women through the Women’s Leadership Group and coached many men and women across the district. She was also a part of the Arizona Women in Higher Education committee. She was always part of the planning team for college-wide events that promoted community, such as the Annual Employee Picnic, and she was always looking for ways her areas could better support students, faculty, and staff. In 2019, Joni took the opportunity to try out a reassigned position at Estrella Mountain Community College and blessed their lives over the last two years as well, though we always knew she’d remain a Coyote at heart. She recently earned her Learning Center Leadership certification. Joni Brummer

Joni earned a bachelor’s in Journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed a master’s in Education from Northern Arizona University. In 2017, she began a doctoral program at the University of the Cumberlands. Joni balanced her continuing education with a strong commitment to her family. She was extremely proud of her children and their accomplishments and willingly sacrificed to see them achieve. The Joni Brummer Memorial Scholarship was established in her honor.
