Math Contest

Registration is open for the Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) 2023 Carol Edwards Excellence in Mathematics Competitions. While both junior high students and high school students will compete on the same day, there will be two competition levels, one for each.

The competition will consist solely of a collaborative team activity and there will be no individual, multiple choice exams. Rather, all teams will compete by working on producing a well communicated solution to an extended, challenging problem-solving situation. After the allotted time, each team will present their solution to a team of CGCC judges, and winners will be determined using a scoring rubric.

As this is a “pilot” year for the new contest format, registration is limited to one team of four students per school. School sponsors/teachers will need to reserve a spot quickly as registration will end when the spots are filled; only 12 teams (48 students) will be admitted at each level. After the registration deadline passes, and if there are any openings, schools requesting additional teams will be contacted in the order of when the school registered their first team to fill any open slots.

The cost is $40.00 per team. All registration fees are non-refundable and due at the time of registration.
