Earlier this year, Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) announced its collaboration with the National Science Foundation, aimed to empower students pursuing their Associate’s Degree Program in Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The acquisition of the Reaching Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Career Heights (REACH) Grant supports CGCC's mission to help the students successfully complete their degree and transfer to a four-year-institution. This grant is directed towards students pursuing Associates in Science with an Emphasis in Engineering, Associate of Applied Sciences in Engineering Technology, and Associates of Applied Sciences in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. With the aid of CGCC's engineering, mathematics, chemistry, and artificial intelligence and machine learning faculty, industry partners, and the REACH scholarship, students are geared up not only for success during their academic journey but also for post-graduation endeavors.

Embarking on its mission, the REACH Grant commenced with its inaugural cohort in the Fall of 2023, marking a significant milestone in the engineering and AIM disciplines’ continuous commitment to fostering academic excellence and professional growth. The impact of this initiative is already resonating within the first cohort, as they are empowered by the financial and mentorship resources provided by the grant.

As the first cohort experiences the benefits of the REACH Grant, CGCC is excited to announce that the application process for the second cohort is now underway, extending to October 31, 2023. Students aspiring to pursue a career in engineering and artificial intelligence/machine learning are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to further their educational journey.

The REACH Grant provides a comprehensive package for its recipients. Successful applicants will be awarded scholarships of up to $5,000 per semester, renewable for up to four semesters. In addition, personalized academic mentorship will be extended to guide and nurture students' growth.

CGCC's industry partners recognize the potential of the participating students, and are actively contributing to their holistic development. The REACH recipients will be offered with a spectrum of professional activities designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and on-the-job skills such as tours of facilities, talks by professional guest speakers, professional workshops, and internship opportunities.

For those interested to find out more about the REACH Grant, further information and application details can be found at cgc.edu/reach-application and https://youtu.be/-2sXpXWag9g?feature=shared. The application window for the second cohort is open, and prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications before October 31, 2023.
