Kick-off Event: Guest Speaker, Sara Slattery

Monday, February 12th

To kick-off Week of Gratitude 2024, CGCC will be welcoming Sara Slattery (Gorton). Sara is a native to Phoenix, Arizona. She was a 10-time Arizona State Champion in XC and Track and Field between 1996-2000 at Mountain Pointe High School. For over 15 years, Sara held the state record for the mile, two mile, and 4 X 800 relay. Sara will be sharing about her experiences as a collegiate athlete and giving back to her community.

Gratitude of Walking: Sensory Writing

Tuesday, February 13th

ETC (Environmental Technology Center)

Join Dr. Kate Hope in the ETC (Environmental Technology Center) in the gardens on the north end of campus to engage in some Gratitude-in-Nature writing activities. It might be chilly, so dress appropriately. Be sure to bring a pen and a notebook to capture your writing!

Gratitude of Movement

Wednesday, February 14th

10 AM

Performing Arts Center Lawn

For this event, Professor Kelsy Martinez will guide you through a meditation focused on body awareness, breath, and visualization. You will engage in a yoga flow incorporating breath and movement to offer gratitude to ourselves and each other.

Additionally, fitness center supervisor, Corey Wick will lead a high intensity, low impact workout, connecting your body, mind, and heart through movement.

Gratitude of Writing

Wednesday, February 14th

11:45 AM - 12:15 PM

Professor Patrick Finn will be walking students through the process of writing letters. Students will have the opportunity to write letters that will be sent to community partners thanking them for everything they do.

Gratitude of Nature

Thursday, February 15th

ETC (Environmental Technology Center)

During this presentation, Dr. Colleen Wilkowski and her ENG 101 students will provide a guided tour of the Environmental Tech Center. They will discuss the activities they have been working on and share feedback on their experiences.

CommUNITY: ETC Little Library Building

Friday, February 16th

9 AM - 12 PM

ETC (Environmental Technology Center)

ETC: Sky's the limit! We will be building a Little Library! The library will have books available to all CGCC students and staff. Please bring your own water.
