The American Association of University Women (AAUW) raised $12,000 for Chandler-Gilbert Community College’s scholarship programs during a fundraising event held this spring. AAUW is a nonprofit organization that provides critical funding and support to advance equity in education and improve the lives of women and girls both in the U.S. and internationally.
2025 marks the fourth year of AAUW’s partnership with CGCC created to raise money to support CGCC students with scholarships.
“Four years ago we decided it would be better to support local community college students to launch their education,” said Beth Zdeblick, advisor for AAUW’s Southeast Valley branch. “$1,500 to a community college student can make a greater impact than $1,500 to a four-year university student.”
AAUW is the nation’s leading organization for equity in higher education and women’s economic empowerment. Founded in 1881 by women who defied society’s conventions by earning college degrees, AAUW has since worked to increase women’s access, opportunity, and equity in higher education through advocacy and philanthropy of more than $146 million, supporting thousands of women scholars. AAUW boasts more than 170,000 members and supporters across 1,000 local branches and partners with 800 colleges and universities. Learn more about AAUW by visiting aauw.org.
