The 2025 cohort marks the final class for Chandler-Gilbert Community College’s Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA), as the program will sunset after 19 years of training law enforcement officials to protect and serve Arizona communities. LETA celebrated its final class during a July 25 ceremony at CGCC’s Williams campus.

LETA was founded in 2006. Led by director Jon Terpay and administrative specialist Margie Zuccaro, 25 classes successfully completed the program. More than 300 LETA graduates are currently serving as police officers and deputies throughout the state of Arizona, with many rising in their department rankings to become detectives, sergeants and lieutenants. LETA alumni have been hired by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, as well as local agencies, including the Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Maricopa, Mesa and Tempe Police Departments.

LETA graduates developed skills in criminal law, crime scene investigation, crowd control, cultural awareness, death investigations, domestic violence, patrol and observation, rules of evidence, search and seizure and traffic law.

CGCC is honored to help train future generations of law enforcement officers tasked with protecting our communities and being part of a noble and in-demand career that will lead to a lifetime of rewarding work.
