CGCC’s fall semester is off to a fantastic start! Our enrollment continues to trend upward, as we have over a six percent increase in headcount from this time last year. These new students have our campuses buzzing with activity. Recent events include a student worker job fair, student clubs and organization fair, pop-in student mixer and many more.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Gilbert Market, (formerly Gilbert Farmers Market). CGCC is honored to be the new home of the Gilbert Market, beginning Oct. 4, and we will host the market every Saturday from 8 a.m. – noon. The Gilbert Market will be bigger than ever this fall, with nearly 200 vendors registered for the first Saturday at our campus.

We’ve also partnered with the City of Chandler and Chandler Unified School District to launch LEAD Chandler, an initiative designed to provide professional and leadership skills to Chandler residents, ages 17-24. The first opportunity for development is the Level Up Conference on Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at our Pecos campus. This free event features interactive workshops on real-world topics, such as career paths, social media usage, financial budgeting and confident communication. Participants will hear from a panel of diverse leaders in the community and engage in powerful conversations about forming relationships, building mindsets and more. Join us in fighting hunger one bowl at a time at our 2025 Empty Bowls event Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on our Pecos campus. Choose from hundreds of handcrafted bowls made by CGCC ceramics students and faculty. We’re proud to team with AZCEND for this event, a collaboration that has spanned 12 years. All proceeds raised support AZCEND, a local nonprofit organization committed to addressing food insecurity in the community and providing critical resources for families in need.

In collaboration with industry partners and K-12 organizations, CGCC is pleased to present IGNITE: Engineering Your Future, Nov. 21 from 8:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. on our Pecos campus. The goal of our IGNITE event is to increase the number of students who choose higher education by sparking curiosity, building confidence and inspiring them to pursue engineering, science and technology. IGNITE aims to help students envision themselves in future technical careers and recognize the opportunities that education in these fields can provide. All students in high school grades 9–12 are invited to participate. Registration information forthcoming.

Mark your calendars for these other upcoming events.

Performing Arts

  • The Importance of Being Earnest: Oct. 15 – 18
    • Meet Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff — two dapper Edwardian gents who shamelessly invent people in order to shirk their responsibilities and follow their whims. For country-dwelling Jack, his fictitious brother Ernest creates a perfect excuse to visit London and swoon over Gwendolen, Algernon’s cousin and daughter of the formidable Lady Bracknell. For city-dwelling Algernon, his imaginary (and sickly) friend Bunbury frequently calls him away to the country, where he meets and falls for Jack’s ward Cecily. Like a brilliantly paced piece of music, this masterful comedy woos theatergoers into a state of sheer delight with its mild treacheries, hilarious confusions and endearingly flawed characters.
  • Urinetown the Musical: Nov. 12 – 18
    • In this side-splitting satire, the young hero Bobby Strong leads his community in a fight against oppression. Set in a dystopian world where water is scarce and “Hope” is even scarcer, all citizens must now pay a fee for “The Privilege to Pee” at one of the public facilities controlled by a selfish tycoon and monitored by authorities like Officer Lockstock. But the citizens can only hold it in so much longer, and soon the poorest, filthiest of these facilities, run by the formidable Penelope Pennywise, becomes a “number one” site for major change.
