Kaitlin Greathouse was one of three star student speakers featured in the 2025 spring Commencement, delivering a powerful speech about finding your place in the world and making a difference in your community.
Greathouse is a proud first-generation college graduate, earning their Associate in Arts in criminal justice. During their time at CGCC, Greathouse interned with the Gilbert Police Department as a victim advocate intern. Greathouse is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, recognizing their academic excellence and leadership within the campus community.
“My major is Criminal Justice, and while that may seem like a niche focus, the truth is, it’s all about understanding the world and finding your place in it,” said Greathouse. “We all have dreams, goals and ambitions. And over time, we have realized that those dreams may change. After working as an educator, which I thought was my first dream, I started to witness the heartbreaking realities of abuse and neglect that many children face. It was through my time at CGCC that I was allowed to explore new paths and ultimately discover my true calling in criminal justice.”
“To the CGCC faculty and staff—thank you for your guidance, dedication and belief in us,” said Greathouse. “You've not only taught us the material but also the values of persistence, integrity and compassion. We truly would not be here without the knowledge you’ve shared and the lessons you’ve imparted, both in and outside the classroom.”
Greathouse plans to continue their education at Arizona State University to complete a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology.
