Chandler-Gilbert Community College, in partnership with the City of Chandler Connection & Impact Division and Chandler Unified School District, hosted LEAD Chandler: Emerging Leaders Cohort at the college’s Pecos campus in February. LEAD Chandler is an initiative designed to provide professional and leadership skills to Chandler residents, ages 17-24. Participants enjoyed hands-on workshops, team challenges and real-world experiences designed to strengthen communication, collaboration and decision-making.
The cohort explored civic engagement, ethical leadership and emotional intelligence while connecting with local nonprofits, business leaders and community changemakers. The program also featured a group service project, resource fair, and sessions on professional dress and formal dining etiquette. Attendees left feeling inspired, empowered and ready to make a positive impact in their schools, workplaces and communities.
The Emerging Leaders Cohort followed the success of the LEAD Chandler: Level Up Conference held last October. During the dynamic two-day program, participants developed their leadership skills through interactive workshops on real-world topics, such as career paths, social media usage, financial budgeting and confident communication. They heard from a panel of diverse leaders in the community and engaged in powerful conversations about forming relationships, building mindsets and more.
“Chandler-Gilbert Community College is deeply committed to student success—both in the classroom and in the community,” said Bettina Celis, Vice President of Student Affairs, Chandler-Gilbert Community College. “Our partnership with the City of Chandler and Chandler Unified School District shows what can happen when education and local government come together to give young people the tools, connections and confidence to lead. Through LEAD Chandler, we are providing students with a platform to learn, explore and engage, right here in their own community. We're very proud to be a partner in this work.”
