Brandon Nevarez is a Political Science student at CGCC with a focus on public service, civic engagement and community leadership. His commitment to service began as a volunteer with the Chandler Police Department Cadet Program, where he served from 2022–2025 and earned the rank of Squad Sergeant.
At CGCC, Nevarez joined the Maricopa County Community College District Student Public Policy Forum (SPPF), gaining experience in public policy, advocacy, and civic engagement. Through SPPF, he traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with the Arizona Congressional Delegation and advocate on issues affecting community college students.
During the 2025–26 academic year, Nevarez served as a Career Services Assistant, supporting students through employer outreach, and assisting career services staff. This fall, Nevarez began serving as the CGCC Senator to the Maricopa Student Senate, representing CGCC students at the district level. His fellow senators selected him to serve as 2026–27 Maricopa Student Senate Chair.
"I am so proud of my fellow senators, and I, as we have already began the hard work ahead of us to advocate on behalf of students," said Nevarez. "I look forward to meeting with staff, faculty, college and district administrators, as well as most importantly students on campus because ultimately we represent them . I am so honored to have been given this opportunity to once again represent my community which is CGCC and MCCCD. I look to bringing civic engagement and education to our campus as well as unite a student voice in the MSS and in partnership with our student governing board member Kelly Sukkha."
