Water and the Desert: A Place-Based Integrative Learning Experience
Engage in experiential learning and design an integrative learning experience. This session on integrative assignment/course design was inspired by our conference theme and location on the Gila River Indian Community. We will visit the Huhugam Heritage Center, located near the conference hotel, before exploring integrative learning opportunities at the intersections of cultural tradition, history, environmental crisis, and the visual arts. Participants will be invited to connect this place-based learning activity to similar integrative learning opportunities in their own communities. If attending, please take time to review these resources for the session and read those "texts" that catch your attention or interest.

Facilitator: Dr. Heather Horn, English Faculty, Chandler-Gilbert Community College

5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
