Leadership Roles

Associated Students of Chandler-Gilbert Community College (ASCGCC).

ASCGCC serves Chandler-Gilbert students by representing a collective voice to college administration. It also connects CGCC students with other Maricopa Community College, plans a variety of activities and events throughout the year, and supports all CGCC clubs and organizations. Learn how you can make Chandler-Gilbert the best it can be through ASCGCC.

Maricopa Student Senate (MSS).

The MSS is a student representative body of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and is composed of one senator from each of the 10 colleges. The MSS advocates for the common interests of all MCCCD students by sharing their achievements and concerns with the Governing Board, Chancellor, colleges, administrators, fellow students, and the community at large. Learn how to get involved in the MSS.

Other leadership opportunities

These are possible within each individual club such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. To get involved check out CGCC clubs & organizations.

Leadership Courses

Student Public Policy Program

The Student Public Policy Forum (SPPF) is an Experiential Learning academic program that takes place over the Fall and Spring semesters. It focuses on student leadership development through engagement in the public policy process.

SPPF helps students become better educated and more involved citizens. It gives them an opportunity to meet with a variety of elected officials and public policy professionals to get an overview of local, state and national public policymaking. No prior political experience is necessary, and students from all Maricopa colleges, backgrounds, majors, and experiences are encouraged to participate.

For more information visit The Student Public Policy Forum (SPPF) page, or contact the Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Program at 480-732-7150 or service.learning@cgc.edu

Model United Nations (MUN)

At CGCC, the Model UN program is a multi-semester program that connects academic courses and outside-of-the-classroom learning experiences. Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more. Thousands of college students across the country and around the world participate in Model United Nations, which involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills.
