At Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC), we are deeply committed to caring for our students, local families and community members—not just through education, but by ensuring access to the resources that sustain our community’s well-being, like nutritious food.

Through the dedicated efforts of our staff and valued community partners, CGCC is expanding food support across both our Pecos and Williams campuses, including:

Expanded Produce Distribution

In collaboration with United Food Bank, we are increasing the number of non-perishable food items distributed, beginning at our Nov. 4 (Williams campus) and Nov. 5 (Pecos campus) produce distributions.

Enhanced Coyote Cupboard

Through our partnership with Matthew’s Crossing, additional food supplies will be added to our Coyote Cupboard, starting this week. We are also exploring supplemental opportunities with other local food banks, allowing us to further stock Coyote Cupboard for those in need.

Community Food Resources

  • The Arizona Food Bank Network has a resource map and lists major food banks available throughout Arizona.
  • St. Mary’s Food Bank also has a resource map to search for their closest distribution site.
  • Affordable food access programs, such as Too Good To Go and Borderlands Produce Rescue, offer low-cost surplus and rescued produce.
  • Maricopa County Community Colleges District maintains a list of external community resources providing a wide range of support.
  • Many cities, including Phoenix and Avondale, list resources available in our communities.
  • Food Bucks Now is a temporary initiative by Arizona’s Governor to provide assistance during the lapse in SNAP benefits. SNAP customers can bring their EBT card to a participating location through the Double Up Arizona network. Staff on site will assist with issuing Food Bucks Now vouchers. SNAP participants are eligible to receive a $10 green voucher for Double Up fruits and veggies and a $30 pink Food Bucks Now voucher for any SNAP eligible foods in November or until the government shutdown ends.

Community Engagement & Giving

The Coyote Kindness Committee will host a student-focused canned food drive the week of Nov. 10, seeking hearty non-perishable items like soups and chili. Later this month, we will align these efforts with our annual United Way campaign and the launch of our Adopt-a-Family program for employees during the holiday season—both of which depend on the generosity and compassion of our college community.

CGCC has always been more than a place of learning—we are a community that cares. These initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to care for one another, especially in times of uncertainty.

We encourage everyone who is able to contribute, volunteer or help share these important resources with others.
