Lactation Lounge

Chandler-Gilbert Community College is committed to providing a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pregnant and parenting students. We provide private, designated lactation spaces on both Pecos and Williams campuses, to support nursing mothers and parents with infants and children.

This policy is in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that amended Section 7 of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Lactation Lounge Amenities

Our lactation lounges on both campuses are located near restrooms and equipped with the following:

  • lockable door
  • covered door window
  • chair
  • foot stool
  • small table
  • electrical outlets
  • changing station

NOTE: Mothers must bring their own pump and storage accessories.

Lactation Lounge Reservation & Guidelines

Reserve the Room

  • Reservations can be booked in 30-minute increments. Once your request has been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation along with our policies and guidelines for room usage. 
  • You are welcome to drop in during regular business hours; however, we encourage you reserve the room in advance when possible to guarantee availability.

General Guidelines

  • During use, you will have secure and exclusive access. 
  • There is no refrigerator in the room. 
  • CGCC does not provide ice packs, containers or other accessories. 
  • Bring your own breast pump and medical equipment. 
  • Please clean up after using the room.

Hygiene Guidelines

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. 
  • Disinfect all surfaces you plan to use.

  • Use a clean barrier (paper towel or pad) on shared surfaces.
  • Keep personal items contained and off shared areas.

  • Wipe down all surfaces used. 
  • Dispose of trash and used wipes properly (including diapers) in outside waste bins. 
  • Take all personal items with you.

Room Access & Questions

Pecos Campus

  • Check in with the BRD front office assistant for access to the room. Be sure to let the staff know when you leave.

  • Check in with the Bridget Hall Information Desk for access to the room.
  • Please let the staff know when you leave.

After Hours & Weekends Access (Pecos and Williams Campuses)

  • For access outside regular business hours, contact Safety Services:
    • Pecos Campus: 480-732-7280
    • Williams Campus: 480-988-8888
  • A Safety Services escort will assist you with unlocking the door so you can access the lactation lounge.
  • Once inside, the student can lock the door while using the room for privacy.
  • The escort will remain in the building during this time to ensure students are not alone.
