Commencement Information

Congratulations, Class of 2022 and 2023!

CGCC will host a Commencement Ceremony at our CGCC Pecos campus, Coyote Gym on May 12, 2023.

Check back here for more information, FAQs etc... and ceremony information as our plans develop.

If you are graduating in December 2022 please note that we do not host a ceremony in December but graduates will be invited to participate in our Commencement celebration in May 2023.

Although guests are not required to have tickets for this event, in order to ensure safety and allow us to physically distance students are encouraged to bring no more than 4 guests.

Diplomas for your earned degree and certificate will be mailed to your address on record once grades have been processed and the college has confirmed that all requirements have been met. You will NOT receive your actual diploma at the ceremony and participating in the ceremony does not guarantee or signify that you officially graduate.

All graduates should wear a black cap and gown in order to participate in the ceremony. These can be purchased through an online retailer, borrowed from a friend or purchased second-hand. If you are unable to purchase a cap and gown due to financial hardship, please contact Yvette Strickling at

Cap and gowns may be purchased through June 30. Please order by April 17 to ensure delivery before the commencement ceremony.

GradImages will be taking photos during the ceremony and of each graduate. They will reach out to you directly after the ceremony with your photos and options for ordering.

Please fill out the Ceremony RSVP form so you can tell us more about the accommodations that you or your guests may need and we will do our best to meet those requests. If a guest is unable to attend in person we will be live streaming both ceremonies.

We will be live streaming and recording both ceremonies so your guests can watch in real time or view the ceremonies at a later date.

Applying to graduate from CGCC with your certificate or degree is not the same as attending or RSVPing to the Commencement ceremony. Participating in the Commencement ceremony does not guarantee that you have fulfilled all the graduation requirements and your diploma, if eligible, will be mailed to you after grades have been processed and the college has confirmed that all requirements have been met.

Please leave balloons, noisemakers, confetti and large signs/banners at home in order to maintain a safe and fun experience for all of our graduates and guests.
