Preparing your senior year

In the months leading to your graduation, there is a lot you can do to explore and prepare for your transition into college. Browse this monthly timeline for your senior year to start planning for what’s next.

Senior Timeline

AUGUST - DECEMBER

You have questions. We’ve got answers. We can help you explore opportunities and learn about the enrollment process. We also visit many local high schools throughout the academic year. Check out our Calendar of Events to see if a visit is scheduled at your school.

If you attend Basha, Campo Verde, Chandler, Desert Ridge, Eastmark, Gilbert, Higley, Mesquite, Perry, Queen Creek, or Williams Field High School we have CGCC College Advisors at your high school. Find out who your contact is here.

Participate in any college fairs and workshops hosted by your school or district. It’s a great way to learn about colleges and where you might find your best fit. Make sure you stop by the CGCC table if we’re there, we’d love to say hello! We also host a variety of events for high school seniors and others thinking about college, including Field of Interest Fairs that help you explore possible career paths, Admission Application Workshops that walk you through the steps of enrollment, and Financial Aid workshops that show you different ways you can pay for college.
Explore our degree and certificate programs, browse class schedules, take note of our registration dates, tuition payment options, financial aid opportunities, and more! Watch a quick welcome from our President sharing a bit about what you can expect from CGCC.

Every college campus has its own unique personality. Come find out if CGCC is the right school for you and ask our current students why they chose CGCC! Email us at recruitment@cgc.edu to schedule your tour today!

JANUARY - MARCH

Brand new to the Maricopa County College District? Apply online at https://admissions.maricopa.edu/ or visit our campus and we can walk you through it.
If you participated in Dual Enrollment, ACE, Hoop of Learning or another Early College program through any of the Maricopa Community Colleges (including CGCC), you may not need to apply again. Contact your High School College Advisor or text us at 480.351.2221 for assistance.
Our college uses a variety of processes to determine college course placement for students, including High School Transcripts, Placement Tests, and ACT, SAT, or GED Scores. You can find out more about our placement options here.
Explore payment options including scholarships, grants, loans, payment plans or other forms of Financial Aid on our Financial Aid page.
  • Note any specific deadlines and apply early!
  • Check our Financial Aid webpage often — CGCC-specific scholarships are usually updated in March or April, but other opportunities are often post sooner.
  • Plan to apply for any scholarships before you graduate from high school because you may need to ask a teacher or counselor for a letter of recommendation.
  • Attend a Financial Aid or other College Workshop
  • CGCC also offers a monthly payment plan, textbook rentals, and free parking!
