Foreign Credential Evaluation and Translation Services

International Credential Evaluation and Translation Services

Domestic Students

A domestic student with international transcripts is not obligated to obtain a student visa (F-1 or J-1) for studying in the U.S. However, if the student has undertaken high school, college, or university coursework at an accredited educational institution outside the United States, its territories, or protectorates, certain procedures must be followed. All transcripts received from outside the United States must be translated into English (if applicable) and subsequently assessed by an international credential evaluation agency. This evaluation is essential to confirm that the high school or college credits align with the standards of a domestic graduate, ensuring equivalency in college/university credits.

F-1 or J-1 Visa Students

To transfer college credits from foreign institutions, students must provide a Course-by-Course transcript evaluation from a foreign credential evaluation agency. An evaluation report will be reviewed for acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to have transcripts translated into English and evaluated by a foreign credential Evaluation Service before submitting them to the college.

Athletic Students

All student-athletes interested in participating in a sports program with Chandler-Gilbert Community College will need to abide by NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) guidelines to be eligible to play and must have all transcripts filed before the start of their season. All transcripts coming from outside the United States must be translated into English (if applicable) and then interpreted by an international credential evaluation agency to ensure that high school credits are the equivalent to a domestic graduate and college/university credits, academic terms and grades can be used for eligibility.

International Credential Evaluation Agencies

SpanTran has created a custom application for CGCC that will make sure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application at SpanTran Application - Chandler-Gilbert Community College

Please Note: This is a listing of the International Credential Evaluation Agencies from members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) commonly used across the state of Arizona and by the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). The MCCCD does not recommend any one agency over another. If the student intends to transfer to any of the state universities/colleges after completing coursework with any of the Maricopa County Community Colleges, we strongly recommend speaking with the university/college regarding the use of any or all agencies. The MCCCD will not be held responsible for the transferability of the evaluations conducted by any or all agencies listed above.
Professional evaluations must be done for the purpose of Education and Course-by-Course. Official academic records in the native language along with the certified English translations are also required.

American Translators Association

This online directory will pull up all translators in the immediate area and you may select one on the list of your choosing.

Please Note: All official English word-for-word translations must be certified by a professional translator and include the translator’s signature/stamp and (if appropriate) be issued on the translation companies’ letterhead.
In some instances, the issuing institution may issue the official academic record in English or may provide an official English word-for-word translation in addition to issuing the official academic record in the native language upon the request of the student.
It is recommended by the MCCCD to obtain the certified English word-for-word translation from an agency or translator listed with the American Translators Association. The MCCCD does not recommend any one agency or translator over another. If the student intends to transfer to any of the state universities/colleges after completing coursework with any of the Maricopa County Community Colleges, we strongly recommend speaking with the university/college regarding the use of any or all agencies or translators. The MCCCD will not be held responsible for the translation conducted by any or all agencies or translators listed above.
